The La Jolla Renaissance Singers will hold auditions for experienced choral singers for our upcoming 2026–2027 Season. We warmly welcome singers from all diverse backgrounds and cultures, as we aim to enrich our performances by featuring music from a wide variety of inspiring composers. While our doors are open to all voice types, we especially encourage tenors and basses to apply.
About the Ensemble
- Rehearsals: We meet once a week on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM in the University City area of San Diego. Following our rehearsals, we gather for light refreshments. Rehearsals resume September 9, 2026.
- Season: Our season runs from September through May with a brief mid season break and for the winter holidays before the new year. Each year typically features two to three winter concerts and two to three spring concerts.
- The Renaissance Experience: To bring an authentic, historical atmosphere to our concerts, we dress and perform in period costumes.
- Summer Sings: While we take a formal break over the summer, we host informal summer sing along get-togethers. If you reach out to us during the summer months, we would love to invite you to join us for a casual sing to get a feel for our repertoire!
Our Audition Process
We audition for new members twice a year, ahead of our Fall and Spring terms. This is an
immersive approach:
- Join Us for Rehearsal: Prospective singers are invited to attend our first three rehearsals
of the term to sing with the ensemble and experience our community. - The Ensemble Audition: During the third rehearsal, applicants will sing an assigned,
rehearsed piece of music one-on-a-part, with current members joining in on the
remaining parts. Sheet music will be provided in advance.
